Born in O’Fallon, Illinois in April 1918. American actor William Holden had an estimated net worth of $2 million. He was one of the biggest box office actors during the 1950s. Holden featured in numerous movies including Stalag 17, Sunset Boulevard, Sabrina, the Blue Knight, Picnic, The Wild Bunch, Network, The Bridge on the River Kwai, and The Towering Inferno. In 1954 he claimed an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for Stalag following his nomination for the same award in 1951 for Sunset Blvd as well as in 1977 for Network. He also won a Primetime Emmy Award in 1974 for Best Lead Actor in a Limited Series for The Blue Knight. Holden also received a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 1651 Vine Street in 1960 and ranked #25 on the American Film Institute’s AFI’s 100 Years…100 Stars list. He also made the Top 10 Stars of the Year between 1954 and 1958 before achieving it again in 1961. At the age of 63 Holden died on November 12, 1981 from an accident.
