Born in Columbia, Mississippi in July 1954. Late American professional football player Walter Payton had an estimated net worth of $3 million. He is one among the most prolific running backs in NFL history, who initially played for his college football at Jackson State where he made it into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1996. In 1975 he was drafted #4 by the Chicago Bears in the NFL Draft and played there until his retirement in 1987 and won Super Bowl XX. Throughout his career, he was elected to nine Pro Bowls and for once held records for most yards from scrimmage, most career rushing yards, most carries, most touchdowns, and most all-purpose yards as well as a record with eight career touchdown passes (most for a non-quarterback). Payton was also voted NFL MVP in 1976, 1977, and 1985 in addition to his being named to the NFL 1970s and NFL 1980s All-Decade Teams and the NFL 75th Anniversary All-Time Team.
