Egyptian businessman Naguib Onsi Sawiris has net worth had a net worth of $3 billion as of 2015, according to Forbes. This rose to $3.9 billion as of October 2018. The Cairo-based billionaire is the chairman of Weather Investments’ parent company and the chairman of Orascom Telecom Media and Technology Holding S.A.E.
Naguib was born on 15 June 1954. He is the eldest son of Onsi Sawiris, the founder of Orascom conglomerate. He gained his diploma in mechanical engineering and masters in technical administration from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich. He also holds a diploma issued by the German Evangelical School, Cairo, Egypt.
Sawiris joined the family business Orascom in 1979. Since then he has contributed to the growth and diversification of the company. Today the Orascom Group is one of the largest and most diversified conglomerates in Egypt. Naguib Sawiris is the chairman of Orascom Telecom Media and Technology (OTMT), which has investments in mobile phone, media and technology companies in Egypt, Pakistan and Lebanon. It also runs North Korea’s only 3G mobile telecom company Koryolink.
Naguib Sawiris is married and has four children. He speaks English, Arabic, French and German. He is an Egyptian Christian. He follows the teachings of the Coptic Orthodox Church. His father Onsi Sawiris and two brothers, Samih and Nassef are also billionaires. Nassef is the richest man in Egypt.
