He is the second wealthiest person in Nigeria. Mike Adengunga is the founder of Globacom, Nigeria’s second largest mobile phone network which has about 24 million subscribers. Adenuga also owns Coinciol Producing; this company was one of the first Nigerian companies to have an oil license in the early 90’s. He started making his fortune at the age of 26, when he returned to his home town after studying in the U.S. He had to work as a taxi driver to raise money for his education. He attended Ibadan Grammar School, Northwestern Oklahoma State University and Pace University, New York; earning a in Business Administration. His oil drilling license was issued in 1990, and GSM licence in 1999. He found big success with the launch of Globacom; the company is moving into other African countries like Benin, Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire.
