British scientist and tech entrepreneur, Dr. Michael Richard Lynch has an estimated net worth of $1 billion as of 2015, according to Forbes. Born in Carrick-on-Suir, Ireland, in 1965, Michael Richard attended Bancroft’s School, Woodford, Christ’s College, Cambridge and University of Cambridge where he received his PhD in information sciences.
He earned his wealth after selling the software company Autonomy to Hewlett-Packard in 2011 for a reported $11 billion. He started the enterprise software company along with David Tabizel and Richard Gaunt in 1996 in Cambridge.
Before selling Autonomy Lynch had a £489m stake in the company. He is the founder of UK-based venture capital firm, Invoke Capital fund. Through Invoke Capital he has invested in several promising firms and he also has a £20m stake in Blinkx, a hi-tech firm. Lynch also serves as the Prime Minister’s scientific advisor. The Irish-born is married and a father of two daughters.
