She attended Groveton High School and The George Washington University but dropped-out from college. Before moving into the film industry, the blond beauty worked as a model and was Miss Virginia USA (1976) followed by the Miss Washington DC World (1977). She began her acting career in the television series Bosom Buddies which she played Sonny Lumet that lasted two years – from 1980 to 1982 – with Tom Hanks. In 1981, she landed a recurring role in the TV series The Love Boat and Charmed Lives in 1986. Her other TV credits include Who’s the Boss?, Moonlighting, The Nanny, Berrenger’s, and Soul Man. She proceeded to appear in feature films including Doctor Detroit, Twilight Zone: The Movie, Spies Like Us, The Couch Trip, Lucky Stiff, Cannonball Fever, It Had to Be You, Wayne’s World, Exit to Eden, Nixon, and Da Sweet Blood of Jesus. Unfortunately, she said goodbye to the showbiz in 1997. Dixon married fellow Doctor Detroit’s actor Dan Aykroyd in 1983 and continued to work together in several movies prior to her retirement.
