Born Cristina Mayville Stenbeck in Long Island, New York on 27 September in 1977. She is the eldest daughter of Swedish industrialist, Jan Stenbeck. When her father died in 2002 Stenbeck took the helm of the Swedish-based Kinnevik media and telecoms group, best known for its Metro newspapers.
Cristina Stenbeck attended Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., earning a Bachelor of Science in 2000. She started her career with Invik & Co as board member in 1997. In 2003, she became the vice chairman of Investment AB Kinnevik, and later chairman in 2007. As of 2014 Stenbeck is the chairman of the board at the online fashion retail website Zalando and chair of telecoms giant Millicom in May 2014.
In September 2005, Stenbeck married English businessman, Alexander Fitzgibbons. She spends much of her time in London. They currently reside in London with her three daughters. The businesswoman received Swedish Royal Patriotic Society Business Medal for outstanding entrepreneurship in 2012. Also a philanthropist, Stenbeck along with her brothers and sister, Sophie and Max are working with Hugo Stenbeck Foundation, a charitable foundation established by her grandfather in 1962.
