Scottish professional golfer, Colin Montgomerie has an estimated net worth $55 million (£35m) as of 2015, according to the Sunday Times rich list. Born Colin Stuart Montgomerie on 3 June 1963 in Glasgow, Scotland. Montgomerie started his professional career in 1987. Montgomerie joined the European Senior Tour in 2013 and won the Travis Perkins plc Senior Masters in only his third start after turning 50. It was his first victory for six years. Three times he finished second in the US Open and should have won it at Winged Foot in 2006, but dropped two shots at the final hole. The Scottish golfer, who lives in Perthshire, finished first on the European Tour Order of Merit eight times, including every year from 1993 to 1999, and has 31 European Tour wins to his name. He made more than £24m in prize money. He earned more than £3.5m in 2013, mostly from sponsorship and lucrative course design. He still has 11 sponsors, including Rolex, Aberdeen Asset and Callaway. He has designed, built or has under construction 19 golf courses. There was an £8m divorce settlement after the end of his first marriage in 2006. Monty remarried in 2008. The golfer has now raised £3.6m of his £4m target to fund two Maggie’s Cancer Centres in Scotland in memory of his late mother. The money has been given through his Elizabeth Montgomerie Foundation.
