About Vivien Chen

Hong Kong businesswoman Vivien Chen had an estimated net worth of $5 billion, according to Forbes. This went down to $1.8 billion as of October 2018. Vivien Chen is the daughter and heiress of Hong Kong business magnate Chen Din-hwa. She is the current Chairman and Managing Director of Nan Fung Group. She joined her father’s corporation Nan Fung Group in 1981 and when her father fell ill with Alzheimer’s disease in 2009 Vivien Chen was passed on the ownership of the firm, controlling her father’s entire stake.

In 1954, Nan Fung Group was founded as a textile manufacturer. However, throughout the years, the factory has grown tremendously from garment producing to shipping and property management. The multi-corporation business empire reportedly confirmed that its original textile mill would be turned into a heritage conservation project in enrichment of the fashion design field. In 2014, Vivien Chen spent $20 million to purchase an office tower with eleven stories at Canary Wharf in London. She was ranked 291 on Forbes’ 2015 Billionaire list, making her the 12th richest individual in Hong Kong. Vivien Chen has been involved in legal dispute with her mother Yang Foo-oi regarding the family assets. She is married with three children.
