Born Anthony Francis Fernandes on 30 April 1964 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Fernandes attended The Alice Smith School in Kuala Lumpur, Epsom College, and London School of Economics, and in 1991 he was admitted as Associate Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Fernandes mortgaged his house and used his personal savings to start the Tune Air Sdn. Bhd., who introduced the first budget no-frills airline, AirAsia in 2004,
Fernandes founded the Caterham F1 Formula One. His other investments include a low budget hotel chain, which he launched in 2007, properties in Britain, Australia, the Far East and majority owner of English football club, Queens Park Rangers. He also invested in television series: The Apprentice Asia. His the current chairman of QPR Holdings Ltd.
