The American singer and reality TV star was born on March 17, 1977 in Maryland. Tamar attended Old Mill Senior High School. She belonged to a musical family and started singing as a toddler. She and her older sisters sang together in churches. They were discovered and signed to Arista Records as a pop quintet in 1989, but their 1990 single “Good Life” stalled on the charts. In 1991, producer L.A. Reid and singer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds took her sister Toni away to a successful solo career. Toni then hired Tamar along with her sisters as backup singers. Today Toni Braxton is one of the best-selling R&B singer of all-time while Tamar began her solo career in 2000 signing with DreamWorks Records and released her self-titled debut album. Her album was not that successful, she was dropped by her record label “DreamWorks”. She continued to sing in Toni’s albums and performed with her in shows. She was again signed for an album with Universal Records but it failed to release.
She appears in WE tv’s reality show about her family life “Braxton family Values.” The show is running in its 4th season. She returned to the music industry with album “Love and War” which was released in 2013. The album was a success and was well-liked. Her fourth album “Calling All Lovers” was released in 2015.
Tamar is married to record producer Vincent Herbert. The couple has a child named Logan Vincent Herbert born on June 6, 2013. They work together on the reality show Tamar and Vince. The singer has a net worth of $ 10 million.
