President of the United Arab Emirates, Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan is the fourth richest royal in the world according to Forbes. Sheikh Khalifa took over from his father, Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in 2004 to become UAE’s President and Abu Dhabi Emir. Al-Nahyan is hereditary ruler of U.A.E. capital Abu Dhabi. He controls 97.8 billion barrels of oil reserve, as well as running the world’s second-largest sovereign wealth fund with assets reported to be $627 billion. His own estimated wealth is a rather modest $15 billion in comparison, although he does spend the majority of his time on his 30-acre Seychelles estate. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has tried to diversify the economies of the emirates. He also chairs Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, a sovereign wealth fund. The Al Nahayan family have a combined for fortune of $150 billion. Sheikh Khalifa is reported to be building his palace in Seychelles in the island of Mahé on a 66 acres he bought for $2 million.
