American businessman and investor Ray Dalio has an estimated net worth of $15.4 billion as of 2015, according to Forbes; making him the richest person in Connecticut. Dalio is the founder of the Bridgewater Associates, an American investment management firm he started in 1975.
Ray was born on August 8 1949 in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York, US. He was the only child of his Italian American parents. He started investing when he was 12 years old. He earned his BA from Long Island University and MBA from Harvard Business School.
After completing his education, Ray worked on the floor of the NYSE and invested in commodity futures. He founded the investment management company Bridgewater Associates in 1975. Today it is the largest macro hedge fund company in the world, with $160 billion in assets under management. Currently Ray Dalio serves Bridgewater Associates as its Co-Chief Investment Officer. All Weather fund is an important part of his empire. It makes up around $80 billion of Bridgewater Associates’ assets.
Ray Dalio resides with his wife Barbara in Greenwich, Connecticut. They have four children. Dalio joined Bill Gates and Warren Buffett’s Giving Pledge in 2014, vowing to donate more than half his fortune to charitable causes within his lifetime. He practices Transcendental Meditation Technique.
