Well known actor Mel Gibson took his first steps in the performing arts when he auditioned at the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney Australia. With no acting experience to his name he was accepted in to drama school. He later made his first stage debut in a production of Romeo and Juliet. Soon followed by a debut on screen in a low-budget film Summer City. After his graduation he joined the Southern Australian Theatre Company where he performed in classical productions.
In 1979 Gibson graduated to the big screen with his performance in Mad Max. He went on to win his first AFI for his role in the film Tim. His second AFI would come from Mad Max: The Road Warrior, which would establish Mel as an international star. After such success on stage Mel tied the knot with Robyn Moore, together the couple would go on to have 7 children together.
His next blockbuster was the start of the Lethal Weapon films. In 1990 Gibson started his own production company Icon Productions, the first film produced being Hamlet. Throughout the 90’s Icon produced multiple films, Mel himself starred in a few low rated films.

In 2005 he began directing his most controversial film Passion of the Christ, claiming that God’s spirit was guiding his directing process.
The controversy continued in to Gibson’s personal life following the film in 2009 his wife Robyn Moore filed for divorce. A year after the split Mel announced that his girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva was expecting their first child together. The relationship proved to be unstable and Mel soon was under fire for domestic assault charges. He was eventually sentenced to three years’ probation, one year of domestic-violence counseling and community service, in addition to several fines. As a result Mel Gibson was denounced by Hollywood colleagues and dropped by his agency. Seemingly the end of an iconic Hollywood acting career.
Recently in 2016 it was announced that Mel would be expecting his 9th child with girlfriend of two years Rosalind Ross.
