British politician and former investment banker Lord Paul Deighton has an estimated net worth of $160 million (£100m) as of 2015, according to the Sunday Times Rich List. Born in Carshalton, Surrey on 18 January 1956. Deighton attended Wallington County Grammar School and earned his degree in economics from Trinity College, Cambridge in 1978. He began his career with Bank of America before moving to Security Pacific National Bank; specializing in corporate banking.
Alongside Lord Coe, Deighton was integral in London’s bid for the 2012 Olympics. Before this he had spent the majority of his career working for Goldman Sachs in both the United Kingdom and the United States. Deighton received his peerage in November 2012; this allowed him to serve in David Cameron’s coalition government as Commercial Secretary to the Treasury, a role he still holds today.
