Kobe Bryant is a retired Basketball player who spent his entire 20 year NBA career playing for the Los Angeles Lakers.
His passion for basketball was first discovered when he led his high school basketball team to their first championship in 53 years. Although his SAT scores were high enough to be able to have scholarships with multiple colleges, Kobe decided to pursue his career with the NBA.
In 1996 he was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets who then traded him to the LA Lakers. Bryant played as a shooting guard and soon earned the reputation of a high flyer and a fan favourite.
Through his first 16 seasons, his body was resilient, and he often displayed a high pain threshold while playing through injuries. Kobe was a fierce competitor, opponents and teammates alike have been at the receiving end of his scorn. Many players have considered him difficult to play with because of his high level of discipline and performance.
Near the end of his career however Kobe Bryant stepped in to more of a mentoring role and embraced his team and teammates, treating them as part of a family and leading them to 5 championships. Along with becoming a two time Olympic gold medalist.
The home front wasn’t always as successful as his growing NBA career. In 2011 his wife Vanessa filed for divorce after 10.5 years of marriage. Fortunately they have since reconciled and are able to live a life together with their 2 children Natalia (born 2003) and Gianna (born 2006). They are currently expecting a third addition to their family.
Kobe Bryant retired in 2016 and swiftly went on to launch Kobe Studios, currently focusing on inspirational videos. Bryant is using the same determination and drive that he had with basketball to build his new passion.
