Afghan-American novelist and physician, Khaled Hosseini has an estimated net worth of $5 million. Born in Kabul, Afghanistan in March 1965. When Hossenini was 11, he and his family relocated to France and four years later they applied for asylum in the United States, where he later became a citizen. Following his graduation from college, he served as a doctor in California, an occupation that he likened to “an arranged marriage”. In 2003 he published his first novel The Kite Runner and later called time on his doctor career to be a full time writer as he thoroughly enjoyed a big success in his first writing achievement. The Kite Runner was on The New York Times Best Seller list for 101 weeks and peaked at number 1 for four weeks. His second novel A Thousand Splendid Suns launched back in 2007 and it spent 103 weeks on The New York Times Best Seller list including 15 weeks at #1. His third novel And the Mountains Echoed went on sale in 2013 and was on The New York Times Best Seller list for 33 weeks. Hosseini is currently a Goodwill Envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and has been working to provide humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan through the Khaled Hosseini Foundation.
