Jason attended Northern Vance High School where he was excellent in football, track and field. He was also an active member of the National Honor Society. Jason won three discus state championships and one in shot put. Attending University of North Carolina, Jason played football and was named the First-team-All-ACC of 2004. Before choosing to play as centre, Jason played tackle and guard. In the 2005 NFL Draft, Jason was #124 by the Baltimore Ravens. From 2005 till 2008, Jason played for Baltimore for a $37.5 million five-year contract and then moved on to St. Louis Rams in 2009 for a guaranteed $20 million contract. However, Rams released Jason of the contract in 2012. In November 2014, Jason reportedly left professional football leaving majority of the $37.5 million contract. He earned around $25 million of that contract.
He moved to Louisburg, North Carolina to become a farmer. Now at the age of 29, he runs a 1,000-acre farm in which he grows cucumbers and sweet potatoes. Impressively, Jason learnt all about farming just by watching YouTube videos.
