Rafik Hariri was the Prime Minister of Lebanon from 1992 to 1998, and again from 2000 to 2004. He headed five cabinets during his tenure and is credited with restructuring Beirut after the 15-year civil war. He was assassinated in 2005. Hind Hariri is the youngest child of Rafik Hariri. The family’s fortunes dwindled after the death of Rafik.
Hind Hariri was born in Riyadh in 1984. She graduated from the Lebanese American University in Beirut in the year 2006. Lebanese American University is a secular, private and independent American university and research institution.
Bahaa, Saad, Fahd and Ayman are Hind Hariri’s brothers. She campaigned for her half brother Saad in recent elections in Lebanon. Saad is a Lebanese billionaire who was the Prime Minister of Lebanon between 2009 and 20011. He is the second son of Rafik Hariri. Fahd Hariri, the youngest son is a well-regarded young architect who graduated from The Ecole Spéciale d’Architecture de Paris in 2004, he has a net worth of $1.2 billion.
Forbes magazine listed her as “one of the world’s youngest billionaires” in 2008. Her rank was 1014 that year. At that time her net worth was $1.1 billion. Rafik Hariri’s children inherited stake in family’s banking, construction and media holdings.
Hind Hariri had put up most of her real estate holdings in Lebanon for sale. This is according to a power of attorney she submitted to the Lebanese consulate in Jeddah in September 2012.
Before marriage, Hind used to stick close by mother Nazek in Paris. At that time she attracted the attention of many in various fashion shows. She said once, “Couture is for when I am representing my family. I’m more into prêt-a-porter”.
In the year 2009 she married Mohammad Anas Al Karout. The couple has two children: Mohammad (born in 2010) and Rafik (born in 2011). The family lives in Beirut, Lebanon.
