Harvey Weinstein is an American film producer and film studio executive with an estimated net worth of $435 million (£285m) as of 2015, according to the Sunday Times Rich List. Best known as co-founder of Miramax Films, Weinstein was born in Flushing, New York on March 19, 1952. He attended John Bowne High School, University at Buffalo, and The State University of New York.
Weinstein co-founded Miramax with his brother Bob. The siblings sold it to Disney in 1993 for $80 million but stayed at its helm until 2005, when they left and formed the Weinstein Company. Weinstein has an instinct for hits – his films make money and impress critics.
