Born in Bottineau, North Dakota in December 1936. American copywriter, entrepreneur, and creative director Gary Dahl earned an estimated net worth of $2 million. In 1975, Dahl created the Pet Rock, a a collectible conceived. He joked about a rock being the perfect pet which led him to the idea of selling rocks as pets. This creation was popular in 1975 but did not stay for long. After this craze, Dahl decided to spend the pay checks received from the Pet Rock to run a bar in Los Gatos, California. He proceeded to sell Sand Breeding Kits and Red China Dirt but it proved to be just mediocre in sale results. He also had his own advertisement agency “Gary Dahl Creative Services” which was responsible for electronic advertising. He had written and created a number of radio and television commercials as part of his copywriting skill. In 2007, he became an author of the Advertising For Dummies from the For Dummies series. On March 23, 2015, Gary Dahl sadly succumbed to his chronic obstructive pulmonary disease when he was 78 years old.
