Brazilian business magnate, Eike Batista has an estimated net worth of $200 million. Born University of Aachen in Germany on 3 November 1956 in Governador Valadares, Minas Gerais, Brazil. He attended University of Aachen in Germany before dropping out. Batista made his fortune in mining, oil and gas exploration through Brazilian conglomerate EBX Group which he serves as chairman. In 2012, Batista was Brazil’s richest man with a net worth of $30 billion. Majority of his investments are run through the holding company bearing his initials, the EBX Group. The group includes five companies that listed in the BOVESPA’s Novo Mercado. He lost the title of Brazil’s richest man after prices plummeted on five of his six publicly-traded holdings. The biggest crash occurred at oil and gas driller OGX Petróleo e Gás.
Unfortunately for the former billionaire, he has since fallen on hard times. That same year the oil fields that his flagship company OGX was developing turned out to hold far less black gold underground than surveyors had anticipated.
Batista is of German and Portugese descent. He was married to model Luma de Oliveira, together they had two boys, Olin and Thor. In 2013 he welcomed another child Balder Batista, with his girlfriend Flavia Sampaio.
