Born in Castro Valley, California in February 1962. Late American musician Cliff Burton had an estimated net worth of $1 million. He was best known as the bassist for the heavy metal band Metallica of which he became a member in 1982 and which he played on their first three studios albums. The band’s very first album Kill ‘Em All was rolled out in 1983 and was certified 3x Platinum. Their second album Ride the Lightning was released a year later and was certified 6x Platinum. In 1986 Metallica’s third album Master of Puppets was released and just like the previous album it was certified 6x Platinum, reaching almost five million copies sale. Burton was also posthumously credited for writing the song “To Live Is to Die” on the band’s fourth album- …And Justice For All- in addition to being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the band in 2009. In 2011 he was ranked #9 on the greatest bassists of all time by a Rolling Stone readers’ poll. At the age of 24 Cliff Burton died on September 27, 1986 in a bus accident while on tour in Sweden.
