Born in London, England, United Kingdom in 1970. English film producer, director, novelist, and screenwriter Alex Garland has an estimated net worth of $5 million. He attended and earned his degree from the University of Manchester. As a writer he wrote his first novel The Beach back in 1996 which described his experiences as a backpacker. Garland then went on to write the books The Tesseract which was released in 1998 and The Coma which was published six years later. Both The Beach and The Tesseract were turned into movies. His other writing works for movies include Never Let Me Go, 28 Days Later…, Dredd, Sunshine, and Ex Machina. He also directed the movie Ex Machina in 2015 besides writing the screenplay for the upcoming movie Halo which will be based on the video game series. In 2004 Garland won a Fangoria Chainsaw Award for Best Screenplay for the 28 Days Later… He also won a Writers’ Guild of Great Britain Award for Video Games for writing for Enslaved: Odyssey to the West in 2011. Garland is married to the actress Paloma Baeza.
